I thought I would do a few favorites from 2010 over the next few months since I have a three month break from photography.
So to start I thought I would show everyone my favorite venue for weddings and receptions. I LOVE River Birch so much that I even showed it off to my family this past weekend (little sis is looking at locations) and even in the winter it is awesome (maybe even more awesome in the winter…). So here are a few of the things I LOVE about this place. Number one, in the summer you can get married outside and of course it is SO pretty and some of you may know I also LOVE outdoor weddings. Number two, you can stay on site that night. I have been involved in several weddings and when things cool down and you break apart for the night it can be kind of a low. I love how you can all stay in the many bedrooms of the house and enjoy a breakfast together the next day. Number three, the environment is not stuffy! There aren’t a million other weddings going on, or people walking around a hotel or anything like that. I have a thing for intimate wedding venues where the night just seams magical. And this place makes it happen. Here are some shots from the night we were there last year and the gorgeousness of the surroundings. Lots of woods, stone, fire, etc. Very beautiful!

From the master bedroom, there are tons of cool photo backdrops, like this rug that I loved.
I don’t usually share the group shots as much cause they aren’t my favorite, but the backdrop for these was excellent!
I love the back deck!
Inside, one of my favorite fireplaces.
There were many beautiful weddings this year and just as many awesome locations. We are blessed to work in many different cities and see new things all the time. But for this past year River Birch took the cake. As for runners up, I would have to say that the Ann Arbor farmer’s market and Indian Springs were fun and unique. I like when there is a flavor of personality in the location and it seams to make the couple more relaxed. More of my favorites to come soon!
And for just another fun taste of Kristina and Jay’s awesome wedding day, here are some more than just detail images!
And if that isn’t enough, we also have a slide show of their special day. Check it out!
As a wedding photographer I tend not to pick favorites when it comes to actual weddings. If the couple is in love and happy then it is a good wedding in my book. If a couple goes the extra mile then it is a great wedding. This wedding was gorgeous and I think I find myself being partial to it because of the location and wonderful laid back atmosphere. But the location! It was at River Birch Lodge in Hartland MI. Mike and I have thought about where we want to do a vow renewal when the day comes, because yes we are those type of people and will be having a big bash to celebrate somewhere down the road, and this is now on the top of my list for locations. Probably another reason I LOVE this wedding.
So this post is totally dedicated to the DETAILS! Mmmmmmm

Our friends at A Moment in Time did the flowers and were also the day of planners. They are awesome if you are thinking of having an event planner involved in your wedding!
And all the food and baked goods (and there were alot) were done by Epoch Catering.
Ok, I might have gone overboard… But can you blame me? And actually there will be more to come very soon!
